Snow and ice usually mean one thing; the risk of slips, trips, and falls increases. Even when the elements aren’t overwhelming us, we can still find ourselves needing to take our time to avoid spills on the ice and snow in driveways and parking lots. With winter slips and falls have a huge impact both on residents, and employees, being safe during the colder months is of great importance!

The easiest way to stay safe during winter weather is to stay home if possible. Whether it’s trips to the grocery store, or the gym, or even heading to work, consider first if the trip is necessary. The safest place to be in a storm is home.

In those events where heading out is necessary, be sure that you’re wearing the right footwear. Even a beautiful snowfall with big gorgeous flakes can hide icy parking lots and sidewalks, sending you for a ride that can end up hurting you.

Snow removal in parking lots often causes things like curbs and separators to be hidden. Watch for curb markings indicating what to avoid so you don’t ruin the tires or underside of your vehicle.

Wintertime weather can be hazardous, but by taking the right precautions you can stay safe!
